Episode 1137 – Will This Episode Get Us Canceled??

Struggling to Work Less?

Today’s theme is all about how to work less in your cleaning company and Mike gives some hilarious examples “on air” that will probably get GMCC canceled 😉 so make sure to listen to the whole episode for that. On a serious note though, Lindsay asked everyone in the community to share their biggest questions on this topic. Our first response comes from Grace, who wonders what to do if she’s not cleaning, doing rags, driving, marketing, payroll, accounting, or sales. That’s a fantastic question because it really gets to the heart of running a business efficiently.

Setting the Vision

The first thing an owner should do is set the vision for the company. You need to decide where you’re going and what your plan is. It’s hard to do this while you’re busy cleaning toilets! You need to be able to step back and look at your business from a higher perspective. The vision includes the purpose of your business and why everyone should want to be part of it – from customers to employees.

Creating a Great Culture

Next, you need to set the culture. This is about the feeling and rules of your workplace that aren’t necessarily written down. Think about how you feel when you walk into a Chick-fil-A compared to a Burger King. That’s culture. It’s important for your team and will reflect on your customers too. Your culture should align with your core values. For example, at Grow My Cleaning Company, our values are to have fun, make money, be real, and help out.

Systems and Processes

The third crucial task for an owner is to set up systems and processes. This can initially be a lot of work but is essential for scaling your business. As you grow, managers can take on more of this work, but in the beginning, it’s mostly up to you. Having solid systems in place ensures consistency and helps your business run smoothly even when you’re not around.

Sales and Beyond

While setting the vision and culture are your permanent tasks, you’ll also need to handle sales, especially in the early stages. Sales are still high leverage but can eventually be handed off to others. The goal is to get to a point where you work fewer hours but still see growth and profitability in your business.

Wrapping Up

To sum up, the keys to working less while growing your cleaning company are to set a clear vision, establish a strong culture, and develop effective systems and processes. If you can focus on these areas, you’ll be able to step back from the day-to-day tasks and enjoy more freedom. Keep those questions coming, Cleaning Nation! We’re here to help you succeed.
