Episode 332 – When to Start the Hiring Process in Your New Cleaning Company...

Today we’re talking with Robert from Healthcare Cleaning Solutions!

Robert’s fallen into a similar trap most cleaning company owners find their way into. His original cleaning business involved him being onsite and helping with the cleaning and administrative work of his business. Opening his second cleaning business, Robert wants to instill himself as a boss and higher paid employee right away. His question is, how can he ensure he remains the business owner and doesn’t get trapped into cleaning?

To remain the business owner and not become one of the cleaners, he has to implement this idea right away. To avoid his past mistakes, he’ll want to focus on these three concepts.

Don’t be afraid to hire. New cleaning company owners tend to have a fear around hiring employees. Since new businesses don’t have a huge inflow of clients, they don’t want to over hire and not have work for the employees. This is the wrong mindset. As a new cleaning company, you want to start to have employees ready to call when you start growing your clientele.

Hire often. Implement your employee generation system as soon as possible and then keep it live. Cleaning can be a fast turn over business. To retain a full staff, you’ll use your automated employee generation system to bring in a new employee whenever another has to leave or is fired.

Bid properly. A major mistake I see in new cleaning company owners is in bidding for a job, not a business. When you bid too low, you fall short and can’t create a sustainable business. A sustainable business has to afford insurance, overhead, systems, websites, equipment and more. Reprice your services to ensure you can afford your expenses and make profit. If you’re not making money from day one on your bid, than you’re not bidding high enough.
