Episode 343 – Transitioning Your Business Into Full-Time

Today we’re talking with Everett from MC Janitorial Services!

Everett’s cleaning company is growing well and he’s considering leaving his day job so he can continue to scale. He previously quit his job to run his cleaning company, but found himself having to go back because he didn’t have the right foundation to be profitable.

His question is, how does he make the leap into full-time entrepreneur and know he’ll be successful?

First and foremost, I’m asking Everett to make a promise to himself. He must promise himself that he will not be cleaning. If he spends his time cleaning, he’ll be making $10-$15 an hour, likely a demotion from his original job. Instead of cleaning, he needs to be spending his time finding new clients and bringing on new employees. This transition from part of the cleaning staff to only working on growing the business should be done prior to quitting his job.

For example, if Everett is cleaning 30-40 hours a week he needs to hire two employees to replace him.

Once Everett has removed himself as part of the cleaning staff, he can start to work towards creating the two systems that will make his cleaning company profitable.

The first system is his lead generation system. This system is designed to attract the right customers to him. It’s an automated process that we talk in detail about in the Clean Profit Method.

The second system is his employee generation system. This system creates a constant flow of new employees, even if he doesn’t need them right now. The key is to have potential employees in the queue, ready to start working. This ensures that if three people quit in one day, you can easily replace them without your clients being affected.

The bulk of your time as a cleaning company owner needs to be spent on creating these systems. When you allocate your time towards cleaning, you’re taking time away from creating the successful systems that will make your company profitable.

Use automated systems to bring in new clients and prospective employees to become a full-time entrepreneur running a successful cleaning company.
