Episode 649 – Social Media 101 for Your Cleaning Companyr

Hi Cleaning Nation! Today I have our social media specialist, Georgie on the podcast. She has been with us for about eight months and spends most of the time behind the scenes running our social media. She is here to share some of her top tips on using social media to promote your business.

Should you Use Social Media in Your Business?

Using social media for you cleaning business is super important because it helps you reach a huge amount of people you may never reach otherwise. Social media allows you to share what you have to offer, special tips and tricks, and why they should pick you over someone else. When you add this amazing tool into your business, alongside other ways to find you such as mouth to mouth advertising, you will find that you will get a lot more leads.

Where Should You Start?

When you are just starting out with social media Instagram and Facebook are the top two to focus on. Identifying your market will help you decide which platforms to focus on and generally Facebook and Instagram will be the top two platforms to advertise a cleaning business. If doing both Instagram and Facebook is too much for you, start out with Facebook. Pretty much every person and every business will have a Facebook page/profile even if they are not super active.

Consistency is Key

When first starting out with social media it is super important to be consistent and not get discouraged. Growing a social media platform can take some time just like anything else you do for your business. Post at least 2 times a week around the same time and ON the SAME days. The more days you post, the higher chance you have of your content being seen but consistency is key.

How to Grow Your Platform Organically

A way to grow your Instagram is to follow your target market’s Instagrams and like their posts. By doing this you are going to curate your explore page which will help you find the right people to reach out to. When it comes to Facebook a great tool to grow your page is to find local/small business groups and join their pages. You can usually advertise your business in these groups and find people to reach out to.

What Type of Content Should You Post?

There are a few types of content that you should post. One would be before and afters. When you post a before and after you want there to be a noticeable difference between the two so your followers can see how amazing of a job you are doing. Another type of content to post is focused posts. People want to know who you are and how you can make their lives better. The third and most important one is tips. People really value free information and when someone sees a tip they love they will remember you.

When Should you Hire Someone

Hiring someone is an extra expense so when you first start social media, always try it yourself. A great way to learn and get inspiration is to view other people’s service company profiles. If you are hitting that four or five month mark and you just feel like you haven’t had any luck it might be time to look at hiring someone. A great tool to make posting much easier is the service Later. It allows you to schedule your posts so you don’t have to think about doing it yourself.
