Episode 608 – How to Get Out of Your Comfort Zone and Grow Your Cleaning Company
MIKE: Hey Cleaning Nation! I am here with special guest Meaghan Vicker, owner of Clean Green Machine. After suffering with toxic overload as a child she became an eco-clean advocate. She is dedicated to getting rid of harmful products in people’s homes and giving them more time to do what they love. Meaghan, let’s talk about you! I know you pretty well but what is something I don’t know.
MEAGHAN: A fun fact about me is that I actually met my husband on MySpace fifteen years ago. Now we have been married for eleven years!
MIKE: What did you say on our coaching call that made me go oh my gosh!?
MEAGHAN: I think it was when I argued with you about starting a podcast. I had all kinds of objections. But with the program, I realized that what my issue really was that I didn’t like being vulnerable. But, if I wanted to grow my business I needed to leave my comfort zone and introduce myself to the world. The following week I came on the call and was all prepared with the intro and had guests lined up!
MIKE: What I was so excited about was seeing hesitant Meaghan turn into coachable Meaghan. Meaghan had all of these amazing ideas that I wish I could take credit for but it was all Meaghan! She went from scared to confident! How did you go from “This is going to be too much work,” to “Oh my gosh this is going to be so much fun!”?
MEAGHAN: I had gone down the rabbit hole and realized that I could make myself get out. I had a realization that I had already taken risks like starting my own business. I also started thinking about my friends and how they are so confident and themselves and realized that if they could do it, I could too. Whatever people thought about my podcast was ok. If they liked it or not I was still excited to get out of my comfort zone and whatever the outcome was ok.
MIKE: How did the ideas start flowing?
MEAGHAN: It really stemmed from the fact that I had been a medical technician for many years so my mind was so focused on one thing. Then I thought, this is not the way I want to live! I knew I was super good at cleaning and had great skills to start a business. On the tactical call, I realized there was NO WAY I was going to let this go. I had worked way too hard to stop now and I could not give up on myself. This is also when I decided that I was going to jump into the Elite program! The podcasts were a great way to get information but I wanted even more and I knew that your program could give that to me!
MIKE: What you just said there about not giving up on yourself being an option is what has made you successful and will keep you successful. What was your favorite and least favorite thing I asked you to do?
MEAGHAN: The first thing that comes to my mind is filling out the cost of goods sold sheet. It was so satisfying and eye-opening. Even though it was hard work and I knew it wasn’t going to add up to be what I wanted it to be, I knew I needed to do it.
MIKE: I love the way that Meaghan approached it. She showed up with a positive and strong attitude.
MEAGHAN: My least favorite thing was creating a podcast but now I am super excited about it!
MIKE: Note to self is if you have a coach that you trust listen to them. The way that you show up will determine so much about the outcome.
