Episode 375 – How to Be Happy, Make More Money and Have More Fun

Welcome to today’s special Thanksgiving blog!

Today Mike is doing a special live solo thanksgiving podcast today, in which he talks about some great ways to be more grateful in day-to-day life.

A lot of times your mental state can be overlooked or ignored. But having a good mindset is one of the most important things in life. Not only will you physically and mentally feel better, but your employees, peers, friends and family will definitely notice as well. There are a lot of different ways to help change your outlook on life. Today we are going to be focusing on how to be more thankful and appreciative of life.

Too many people look at the negative side of things, which in turn makes them feel worse, which in turn makes them more negative, and so on. Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, or want, focus on what you do have! If you’re reading this, then you have access to a computer, the knowledge to read and understand English, and the desire to grow your company and yourself. Not everyone has that, appreciate it! Many people don’t have the drive to really pursue growing their business, but yet here you are growing your knowledge right now. You have a lot more control in life over how to choose to appreciate things, rather than get the things you want.

You may be thinking that changing your mindset is easier said than done, but there are actually a lot of very small changes you can make to significantly help you change your mental state. Believe it or not, small things like body language and actual language play a huge role to our brain. If you find yourself smiling and laughing all the time, it can actually trick your brain into thinking that it’s happier. Or another example is instead of saying phrases like “ I think I might like to try ____ “ try flipping it to say “I am going to do ____, I have decided to do ____” etc.

A couple more great ways to help get to a happier mindset are things like:

Gratitude journals:

Where you just take a few minutes out of every day and write down what you’re thankful for.

Counting your blessings:

Make sure to reflect often on the things that you do have that are improving your life. Friends, Family, Hobbies, Etc

Making time to do things that actually make you happy:

Don’t fall into the mindset of “I don’t have time to go to the movies, or do whatever it is that I’ve wanted to do but has been pushed aside. Make time to do it. You won’t regret it.

Serving others that are less fortunate than you:

This one is huge. Actually seeing and helping out with people who are in a tougher spot in their lives can be a big way to really understand all that you do have.

And last but not least, a few things to stay thankful about the cleaning business.

Mike has talked to many people in the cleaning company industry, and along the lines he’s met people who love what they do, and those that tolerate it, but we are going to go over some of the reasons why the cleaning business is such a great one to be in.

Recurring Income- Not all jobs are set up so once you acquire a client, they’ll pay you every month until something gets messed up. How beautiful is that?

Ability to create systems- Being able to set up systems and other ways for your business to work in itself while you work on it is a huge plus. Not all types of companies have that freedom.

And last but not least, We all get paid to help people. Whether it be helping keep commercial buildings clean so that your client’s employees don’t get sick, or cleaning someone’s house so that they can relax after their long day, what we’re doing is actually making an impact on people’s lives, and that’s pretty exciting!

With all that being said- We here at GMCC hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving, and encourage you to keep pushing yourself to grow!
