Episode 363 – Creating Healthy Time Management
Today we’re talking with Thomas from Joy Cleaning!
Thomas has a valuable question for Cleaning Nation. He’s wondering, what goes into the daily maintenance of a healthy time management habit?
I talk about time tracking extensively in the Clean Profit Method and provide a spreadsheet outlining how to track finances and time. This money and time tracking system is how I start every work week. This spreadsheet focuses on three steps.
The first step is to write out your schedule and your budget for that week. Be very aware that by the end of the week, things may have gone a little crazy and that’s okay. You don’t have to follow through with every part of your schedule if something else requires priority.
The second step is to write down what you actually did. Keep yourself accountable as to what you’ve said you wanted to accomplish and what you were able to accomplish.
The third step is to write notes on how you feel about the week. These notes, and the reflection that comes after, should look like this:
You did what you wanted and you feel good about it. This means you are disciplined.
You did what you wanted but you don’t feel good about it. This means you have to get better at planning.
You didn’t do what you said and you don’t feel good about it. This means you need more discipline.
Depending on how you’re feeling, you’ll know what you need to work on to improve your time management. I also suggest color coding your spreadsheet to visualize your productivity and how you felt after each week.
