Episode 131 – Cleaning Employees

W-2 Cleaning Employees or 1099??
How to transition from 1099 labor to real live cleaning employees…
Today Mike coaches Eloisa Alvarez of itscleaningtime.com out of Austin, TX. on cleaning employees. Because Eloisa has big goals to grow her cleaning company and believes one of the first priorities is to transition her employees from 1099 contractors to w2 employees.

This kind of change requires top notch communication and we are going to tell you just how to do that in today’s post.

Mike shares two ways you can transition contract labor to cleaning employees:

Approach 1: Rip the band aid- “fire” all of your contractors and invite them to apply as employees. This can create some stress in your company, but it will also get the job done quickly.

Approach 2: Don’t make any changes for your current 1099 contractors. Start hiring cleaning employees and stop hiring contractors. This is going to be less stress up front, but causes the transition to drag on.

COMMUNITY- BEING PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER MATTERS – The Bad News: There is a super high demand for these type of low level wage jobs. There is so much competition for quality employees, it can feel almost impossible to get dedicated staff.

The Good News: You don’t have to “pay more” or “settle for less”. ALL employees desperately want the same thing (HINT: It’s NOT more money).

Appreciation and sense of community- being a part of something big, something important THAT is what employees want. Like water in the desert! When you create community in your company you have a huge edge on your competition.

Just like it can feel like you are just moving through a revolving door of employees, cleaning employees often feel like they are moving through a revolving door of crappy jobs. It doesn’t take much to stand out and be the job they have been wanting their entire life. When that happens you will be shocked at how dedicated and loyal your cleaning employees will be.

Mike dives into a pretty solid rant, but this is a HUGE topic for growing your cleaning company and you are probably going to want more, check out some bonus lovin on cleaning employees below…

BONUS LOVIN: Focus on your core values and the right people will come to you. Check out THIS VIDEO and THIS PODCAST for even MORE info on Culture, Core Values and hiring cleaning employees.

Don’t worry, we didn’t forget the Lightening Round and Eloisa knocks it out of the park…
