The Jason Checklist:
First of all you have to have systems and processes so you don’t have to be with your business 24/7. You don’t want to be the one who puts out fires and takes care of it.
Fear stops us from doing anything. So how did you go to the guy that has systems and
processes that work?
Build a culture and implement value. Once you start implementing values with your team and you see your team making decisions based on those, then you don’t have to be there, because they’re going make decisions based on those values. They can’t hurt you because of their value-based decisions. It might not be the perfect answer but it won’t be the wrong answer.
Changes that Jason Made to be Successful:
The external change that had to happen in the business was we had to have a hiring system. That was something we didn’t have before. You just have to have that set up.
There were internal changes too. Letting go and letting someone else have those reins and to trust others. You have to know in your mind that there’s someone there to do it for you. It’s mindset tuning- you just have to trust that you have people and systems that can take place.
Why You Need to Hire Based on Core Values:
First hiring by the core values lets you know that they’re going make the right decisions. You don’t have to have a system for every little thing as long as you have a strong core values. One of the hardest things is letting go and trusting your people to do things without you. Letting go and empowering people and trusting them is important. You’ll never grow where you can step out and be away from your business and you won’t be able to work on it instead of in it. You’ll never get there if you don’t trust and empower.
You don’t have to run every scenario on your own. The employees can do it by themselves, you just have to empower them. There are times when you feel like you’re hanging and you’re going to get bit, but 9 times out of 10, you aren’t because you hired based on core values and you have good people!
If your employees are going to take advantage of your absence, then you have a core value problem, you hired the wrong people. If you have the right system, then that can inspect them and hold each other accountable.
