Welcome Cleaning Nation- Today Mike is here with a special guest, his VA Christy! Mike is going to go over the reasons why your company can benefit from having a virtual assistant.

We’re going to start today off with the story of how Mike and Christy found each other. Originally, Mike had found Christy’s Upwork page, and had put together an invitation for Christy, and after the first project they realized that they were a great fit and have been working together ever since! Websites such as Fiverr, and Upwork are great ways to find freelance work, such as Virtual Assistants. Sites like this also have a lot of customization, so you can find people in certain areas, or who have a certain amount of good reviews.

One of the important things to remember when putting together an ad for one of these sites, is that it should really reflect who you are. If your ad is not core values based then you will have to rely completely on luck to find someone who is compatible with you and your company, which drastically lowers your chances of finding someone awesome like Christy! It’s also important to find the middle ground between overwhelming them, and not giving them a good enough job description. You’ll want to define exactly what you’re expecting of them, and provide a brief description of any tasks that you may need done, as well as any other important information pertaining to the job. Before you take anyone on you should always make sure that you are both crystal clear on what is expected from both parties.

When asked what the most important thing to keep in mind when searching for a virtual assistant, Christy said “Having a clear idea of what it is exactly that you want. You won’t be able to find what you’re looking for if you don’t know what kind of work that you’ll need done, or how much resources you have to allocate to a VA.”

The last thing to keep in mind is that your VA is an employee. Mike has worked with a few different VA’s, and he’s found that the good ones are willing to work with you and be open and honest. Having a virtual assistant that is flexible and willing to help out and go the extra mile makes a world of difference when you’re trusting someone to work on your company.

Once you’ve put the ad up and have some potential matches, it’s good practice to give your VA a small, paid trial. Giving someone a task and seeing how they handle it, and if they are a good match for your company is a great safety net to catch any incompatibilities before they arise.
